Thank you as always to our valued volunteers! Thanks to those who were able to make it to the Sharing Assembly, the children enjoyed showing off their lions and lambs for you and have had a great time studying the weather. The next Sharing Assembly will be April 25 and celebrate the trait of co-operation. With all of our special activities coming this month we will be relying on your commitment to our class even more so thank you very much!
In the spring, as a school, we revisit our safety plans and run some fire drills as well as a lockdown practice. It is better for the children if these are a surprise but we will be talking about the proper procedure in class prior to the actual drills. You can reasssure your child that these are only practices and school is a safe place - in my 23 years and 2 schools I have never experienced a real fire or traumatic event but we know the value of having these procedures in place. Often the key is to simplify, the children only need to know we practice for safety sake not all the other details that can make these drills upsetting.
Spring footwear! How lovely to say spring!
****Please remember that until our playground has had plenty of opportunity to dry out - all of April perhaps - the children will continue to need indoor and outdoor shoes. The woodchips are often muddy, the mud sticks to running shoe treads and comes in all over our class...YUCK! Although the pavement and sidewalks are clear, having on rain boots in the playground is a better idea than shoes right now. Thank you.
Scholastic orders for this month will be sent home Monday and are due back with cheque attached by Friday. Once again, this will ensure you have books for the break, especially if the Easter bunny is bringing books or there is travelling involved in your break where a new book could be a welcome distraction in the car or on a plane! My kids still talk about what an event it was studying the Scholastic catalogue and deciding which books to choose then waiting for them to arrive. I find the books current to the children's interests and of great value, which is why I continue to use them. All of our orders earn us bonus dollars too which I can then use to purchase MORE nooks and materials for our class, yeah!
