Week of March 3 - 7

Thank you as always to our valued volunteers.  Thanks also to everyone for helping out with the red and white/Canada clothing for Friday's assembly, the kids looked very cute!  Our next assembly is Friday, March 28 to honour the character trait of honesty.

For those of you who ordered Scholastic books; the order was placed after school Wednesday, processed Thursday and an email indicating it was in transit came Friday - that means we should have books before Thursday, woohoo!

We will continue our inquiry into weather, the "lion and lamb" metaphor for March days fascinates the kids and they now refer to stormy/freezing/blowy days as "lion" days!  We are all looking so forward to the "lamb" days to come...  Having a weather app/newspaper/weather channel you and your child can look at together would be great.  Looking at weather satellites and the photos they take created some amazing conversations and questions from our mini scientists!

Coming in April, we will have a visit from "Scientists in the School" to delve into simple machines and how they work.  Each class - AM and PM - gets a session where the kids do rotations to complete several mini lessons.  Our scientists is booked for Tuesday, April 1 pending confirmation at which time she will also let me know how many/if any parent volunteers will be needed to run the program.
For those of you new to LKS, this is another of the valuable programs paid for by your generous donations to Parent Council.  Scientists come to most of the grades and the kids love it!  Stay tuned for more information on our upcoming visit.
