Thank you as always to our valued volunteers! This week we showed our fantastic team spirit as we travelled to Strawberry Creek Farm with volunteers Dana, Jeanette and Leonie who had groups of kids along with Ms. Paldon and I, as well as Kathryn and Jessica who were able to take their child from our class to travel with a sibling class in order to help out with our numbers. It was a bit chilly but most of us were dressed well and had a good time. The kids had a blast bumping around in the wagon through the muck and running into the dead ends in the corn maze! Then there was the Halloween party with fun crafts and great volunteers, again, a good time was had and the kids were happy to take home their treasures! Many thanks to everyone who sent in treats to share with the class, seeing the treats filling up their "bat bags" was one of the kids' favourite things!
Our next party will be December 20 to help celebrate the winter holidays!
The "haunted house" was packaged up and put away until next year - thank you again Erica and Torin! My husband has now ordered giant cardboard boxes from ULine to make us a Santa's workshop...stay tuned to see how that turns out!!
Picture retakes were done on Wednesday. Once the final orders are in photos will be sent to us and EVERYONE will get a class picture regardless of whether you ordered individual photos or not.
The online interview system is up and running, please read your parent bulletins carefully for closing off dates and and necessary password to use the system and then sign up for the time best suited to you. Ms. Paldon and I look forward to speaking with you! Report cards will come home with everybody Monday, November 13.
The November Sharing Assembly will be Friday, November 24 to recognize the character trait of "empathy" and the song portion will be conducted by Ms. McGee our librarian/music teacher. The classes (all 5) will be singing "We All Alive in the Yellow Submarine " so looking it up on youtube and having your child practise is a great thing! We also ask that YOUR CHILD WEAR YELLOW for that performance...like our LKS t-shirts if you got one. Thank you!
This week we will attend the Remembrance Day assembly on Friday morning. If your child belongs to a youth group such as Sparks or Beavers he/she may wear their uniform to school that day. We listen and behave well to show our respect to the veterans and subject matter as well as parents, families and community members who also, are invited to attend. We are spending the week talking
and thinking about peace, kindness and getting along. Very fitting and timely!
Our week looks like this:
Monday - Reading Buddies cancelled due to Sports Assembly
Tuesday - Day 4 LIB/IT yellow PM
Wednesday - Day 5 LIB/IT AM, Mystery Reader PM
Thursday -
Friday - Music, Assembly A.M., Mystery Reader PM **due to assembly
The November Scholastic order was done this evening. Your next chance to buy books will be the beginning of December.
Homework...keep having the kids do up those coats themselves! Zippers can be tricky and need practise. We tell them to keep hold of the bottom of the coat on the side withOUT the zipper pull and make sure they are looking AT the zipper before trying to attach and move it. Snowpants and boots will be here soon enough, let's boost the independence.
Thanks and have a great week!
