Thank you as always to our valued volunteers! Thanks to everyone who helped out this week as a Mystery Reader, mailbag book changer, sent in food, volunteered for the trip, came in for Pizza Lunch or the Sharing Assembly. Great support makes our class a great place! Our grade parents have a November calendar ready for you and the Halloween party nicely organized for next week, amazing! Way to go team!
Congratulations again to our Emmie, Lauren and Preston for their excellent display of responsibility in the class - taking care to do their best on all tasks, taking care of belongings, their own and class materials and always being where they should be! Well done! The next assembly will be Friday, November 24 at 9:00 for the character trait of empathy. Also, the kids will be singing a song with Ms. McGee...see you there!
Our class is looking spooky with all the decorations the kids have made and our awesome new "haunted house" courtesy of Torin and Erica. The hard work and satisfaction the kids felt making and hanging a banner warning others of the "danger" in the class says what they think of the little cardboard house! Everyone coloured some portion of it and they are all enjoying playing in it with a cloak, cauldrons and decorations. If you have a chance, pop in for a look. Thank you again Torin and Erica!
TRIP day is Monday. Please be sure your child is dressed for the weather as we go RAIN or SHINE and are outside for the day! Your child needs water, snacks and a good lunch in their backpack. EVERYONE is asked to send EXTRA pants in case of washroom or lunch accidents so that no one is left wet for the day. We will be on the bus at 9 and back by 3 for regular dismissal. Your child will be in a small group with one adult - we have Jeanette, Caesar's mom, Leonie, Jamie's mom, Dana, Resse's mom as well as Ms. Paldon and myself - but we will be able to travel together as a class
around the farm. I'm sure we will have a great time and make some good memories!
Halloween and Nut Free treats...on Tuesday you may send treats to school for your child to share with everyone (27 kids) but please be sure you send ONLY NUT FREE treats. We have had several children bringing peanut M&M's and Snickers bars (has peanuts!) as treats in their lunch bags this week. This is a serious hazard to anyone in the school with a peanut allergy. Because we are sharing the lunchroom with ALL students we have to be vigilant and take serious allergies seriously. ONLY peanut free treats of any kind should be sent in please. Your child will be bringing a loot bag
of treats home with them on Tuesday, if you have food allergies in your house please check the
contents carefully.
Halloween and costumes...we will be parading around the perimeter of the schoolyard ( the first floor if it's raining) at 9:00 on Tuesday. Please have your child come to school DRESSED and ready to parade! NO weapons are permitted. A plastic bag to put costume pieces that are taken off into is a wonderful idea. Your child may not want to wear the costume all day, particularly if it impedes running while we're outside or is difficult to manage in the washroom.
November Scholastic orders were sent in mailbags today and are due back to me by November 3, giving you one week to look it over and decide on any purchases. Thanks!
Online booking opens this week for interviews. Each child will receive a fall term report card and every family is entitled to an interview. Interviews are 10 minutes and are available before school and after. Please look carefully and choose the best time for yourself. If you are away the week of interviews (Nov. 13-17) please let me know and we will try to reschedule. Reports go home Monday, November 13.
