Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Here's to beautiful fall days and spending time with the people you love doing the things that you love! In my home that means lots of dog hikes, lots of groceries as we host the 5 kids with boyfriends/girlfriends and my parents and meeting my new nephew Logan...nice!
I hope you enjoy the gifts your child made to help celebrate the holiday - those candles turned out so lovely, they looked like a beautiful forest all together - no two alike! And those turkeys...heartfelt sentiment on one goofy looking decoration...well done kids! Be sure to have them sing you the poems for this week also...pretty cute!
A notice regarding the Scholastic book fair Ms. McGee is hosting in the library was sent home Thursday. The class has 2 groups for library days so your child may have a Tuesday visit or a Wednesday visit to the book fair depending on their group - see below. Other than these visit times, you or a caregiver may take your child after school until 3:30 to shop. There will be NO book exchange this week, only purchasing.
The Tuesday PM group will be Matthew, Preston, Jamie, Ashlyn, Caesar, Mateo, Gabby, Kael, Henry, Emma, Olivia, Neve, and Riley.
The Wednesday AM group will be Kristina, Stuart, Jameson, Emmie, Torin, Liana, Dylan, Reese, Harrison, Jessica, Lauren, Lisandro, Megan, and Paige.
If you are sending money please send it in a ziploc with your child's name clearly marked on it. There will be adults helping the kids to look, choose and pay for books but the kids often put the baggies down...and without names they All Look Alike! If you do NOT wish to send money that is also fine, the kids will go and look just the same and maybe even come home with a wishlist. The bookfair runs THIS week only, Tuesday to Friday at 2:00. In the spring Ms.McGee will host another.
In your LKS Bulletin you will hear about a "We scare hunger" food drive the whole school is participating in. Beginning next week until Halloween you may send NON perishable foods (cans, bags, bottles, boxes that DO NOT require refrigeration) in with your child. All donations will be collected and ultimately delivered to the food bank by students and teachers in higher grades. A great way to reiterate and act on the idea of thankfulness and instill the community ideal of sharing with our neighbors!
As we get nearer to Halloween a few hints to help our rookie parents out...
-choose a costume that is EASY on and off as your child will need to manage it once at school, even in the washroom!
-send a BAG we can put it, or parts of it, in as your child takes it off, they rarely keep the entire thing on all day...particularly during OUTDOOR PLAY
-Be SURE they can walk safely in it, we parade around the outside of the school if weather permits and everyone walks with us
-BE SURE they can see where they are going if headgear is a part of it - MAKEUP is always safer than a mask
-NO WEAPONS OF ANY KIND PLEASE
-share ONLY NUT FREE, commercially bought treats with the class as each child will take a loot bag HOME and there may be allergies in the house (we have 27 kids, 26 if you wish your child not to get their own treat and NON edible treats are fun too!)
This week looks like:
Monday - Happy Thanksgiving!
Tuesday - Book Fair visit Day 4 yellow sticker group (see above)
Wednesday - Book Fair visit Day 5 orange sticker group (see above)
Thursday -
Friday - Music AM
Cheers, Ms.I.
