Thank you as always to our valued volunteers. With Pizza Lunch this week we saw a few more parent faces around the school. We hope you know how much your time is appreciated to make these things go smoothly - thank you, thank you!
This coming week will be a busy one as short weeks always seem to be. Our TRIP is Wednesday morning. We depart the school at about 9:00 a.m. so please be on time to avoid missing the bus! The bus drivers are responsible for sticking to a strict schedule because they typically have school pick up and take home runs of their own to do and are just doing an extra run in between that to get us to the show!
We are expected back at about 12:45 p.m. at which time ALL of the classes will EAT LUNCH IN THEIR OWN ROOMS. Please send the same amount of food you usually do as I'm guessing the children will be just as hungry as usual by the time we return! NO FOOD can be eaten on the bus as a safety precaution against choking etc and NO FOOD can be eaten in the theatre. Feed your child a hearty breakfast, maybe a quick snack on the way to school or while waiting in the yard and away we go!
We will travel in coats and indoor shoes - leaving all of the easily lost and forgotten hats and mitts safely in the class. Please SEND the snowpants WITH your child (for outdoor play in the afternoon) but don't have them on in the morning. It will be too warm on the bus and in the theatre for snowpants and we won't have time to undress and redress everyone before boarding! NO money is needed on this trip.
SCHOLASTIC order forms were sent with your child on Friday as well as a CLASS PHOTO. Everyone gets a complimentary class photo whether you ordered an individual package or not - enjoy! If you wish to order from Scholastic this month please send you order form and cheque, with you child 's name clearly marked, by Thursday, December 4 as I will place the order on Friday.
FOOD COLLECTION for the annual LKS Holiday Food Drive will begin on Monday. We have a box outside our classroom door (to the hallway) where food donations can be placed or you can send donations with your child. The Daily Bread Food Bank website has suggestions for the best kinds of donations but anything is graciously accepted. Please keep in mind we are a NUT FREE school when selecting your donations - although peanut butter is a valuable gift it can endanger some of our students and staff just being in the school. Thank you, thank you in advance for helping out! Donations will be accepted until December 17.
This week:
Monday - Reading Buddies
Tuesday - Mystery Reader PM
Wednesday - TRIP AM, no LIB/IT
Thursday - Mystery Reader AM
Friday - PD Day - No School, Staff at workshops
Coming next week will be another "Spirit Day" organized for the whole school. To give you a "heads up" this one will be "Ugly Christmas Sweater Day!" These days are always voluntary participation, and the level of participation is completely individual. Some go all out and some not at all. Ugly Sweater Day is set up to be a fund raiser for the LKS Social Awareness Club "The Seeds of Hope" and they will be asking for a donation of $1 from everyone for the opportunity to share your ugly sweater with your friends. In kindergarten we could call it Silly Sweater Day, we don't need to focus on the "ugly" word. Donations collected will be sent to the Free The Children Foundation.
Have a great week, Ms. I.
