Thank you as always to our valued volunteers! This week the Scholastic Book Fair was staffed by parents to ensure class visits ran smoothly and everyone had a good experience. Well done! To the small army of volunteers who set up and took down the Fall Harvest evening, thank you! We have two wonderful pumpkins in the class, donated, saving me a trip to the market and carrying pumpkins into class for carving. Thank you!
Pizza lunch will be Friday, October 24. You may send extra food or drink with your child if you wish but the pizza slice comes with a drink and chips also. Please talk with your child about appropriate table/lunchroom behaviour. We have had several incidents of breaking things, play fighting, throwing things and general disrespect in the lunchroom. Staying for lunch is a privilege not a right and good behaviour is an absolute necessity.
Trip letters were sent home Friday in your child's bag. We will be going to the theatre with the other 3 kindergarten classes to see a production of Robert Munsch's work on December 3. Permission forms and payment are due by November 3. If you wish to volunteer for the trip (3 parents per class will be taken) be sure to check off the volunteer spot on the form before returning it. I will simply put all names in a draw and take 3 out on November 3. Being a volunteer means coming to school with your child in the morning, supervising a small group of students (6) the entire morning and riding the bus with us to and from the theatre. Younger siblings would not be able to come with parents who are selected to volunteer so please be sure you have a plan for their care if chosen. The bus will return to LKS approximately 12:45 so all children will eat in their classrooms at that time.
REPORTS will be completed and sent home with SENIOR kindergarten students ONLY this term.
Reports come home with your SK child on November 10. Everyone (JK and SK) may have an interview, however; only seniors will bring home a formal printed report. Junior kindergartens will receive a report next term and seniors will not. At LKS we use an online sign up. I will post available times and you choose what works best for you. All interviews are 10 minutes and times will be before school, at lunch and after school. All teachers offer a variety of times and days so you can book each child to suit your schedule. Watch for your grade parents to email you with sign in info once the interview schedule is available to you.
This week we saw "The Ned Show" and had some fun while learning to Never give up, Encourage others, and Do your best. The show works on a "pay it forward" principle so that NED merchandise
will be available for sale next week (yo-yos!) and proceeds will pay for the next school to see the show.
Thanks to those who participated in "Twin Day". The LKS student council will choose these spirit days over the school year and your participation is voluntary. Notice is sometimes short but we do our best to get the information home to you as soon as possible.
This month's Sharing Assembly is Thursday to celebrate the character trait of responsibility. Presentations will be at 9:00 in the gym (stage side) on Thursday. Certificates will be given to Chace, Marissa and Porter for demonstrating responsibility in the class. In kindergarten this means being responsible for your actions and words as well as your belongings. These three students do a great job, congratulations!
From October 21 - 31 our LKS social justice club the "Seeds of Hope" will be collecting non-perishable food and personal hygiene donations for their Scare Hunger campaign. Each class has been asked to donate to the campaign beginning on Monday. Class tallies are in the front hall display case. We do a great job of sharing the wealth at LKS and the kids enjoy the idea of helping those less fortunate so let's see what we can come up with! Thanks in advance for anything you can spare.
