Thank you as always to our valued volunteers - the book changers, computer lab helpers and mystery readers are MUCH appreciated!
I hope everyone enjoyed a lovely weekend with good food, good fun and good feelings! Our house is noisy and full on these holidays, kids all home with partners in tow, fridge full to bursting and long chatty mornings at the dog park...makes for wonderful days. So many things to be so thankful for!
This week we shift over the "school day cycle" since Monday doesn't count. This means our Library/Computer days shift over to be Tuesdays and Thursdays until the next long weekend. This week, however, with the BOOK FAIR in the library there will be NO BOOK EXCHANGE. You are welcome to send books back but your child will NOT bring home a new book. Computer classes will be missed this week also. We will visit the book fair Tuesday afternoon only. If you wish your child to purchase books on this visit they need to have a ziploc with their name on it and money inside. Books can be as little as $5 for our age group. If you wish to shop WITH your child, the Book Fair is open daily until 3:30 pm but CLOSED over the lunch hour.
Halloween is quickly approaching and lots of costume questions have come along. At LKS we COME to school dressed up on the 31st. The ENTIRE school comes outside (weather permitting) to do a Halloween Parade after morning announcements. Once that is complete we will head into our class for our party (the morning only). The children will be able to do crafts and eat special treats over the morning. Many of them will wish to take off their costumes at some point so please BE SURE they have a bag to put all parts into and/or their name is on all the parts. We want to make sure a complete costume comes home to you for trick or treating!
FOR SAFETY please be sure your child's costume fits well enough to allow easy movement. Face make up/paint is easier than masks to be sure your child can see properly; can't be taken off and lost either! WEAPONS ARE NOT WELCOME, please leave them at home for trick or treating later. The children usually bring treats to share with one another, they will make a loot bag and bring it home to you but please be careful to have anything you send in for these loot bags be WRAPPED, PEANUT FREE and commercially made for ease and safety in sending home.
This week we have a performance to watch with the rest of the school. "The Ned Show" will be visiting our school on Friday. NED is an acronym for never give up, encourage others and do your best. You can find out more at www.thenedshow.com and don't forget to ask your child about the show!
