This week we were indoors for most of our time, let's hope we can get back to some more reasonable temperatures and enjoy some time outside in the snow next week! Our sharing assembly will be Thursday; once again the character trait we celebrate is teamwork and the certificates will be given to Jack and Abby in the morning and Scott in the afternoon.
Reports - for Junior Kindergarten only - will come home February 10 but interview times are available over a two week period both before and after the actual report date as well as before and after school. Interviews are 10 minutes in length. Typically interviews at this time of year are reserved for at risk students or those who have shown significant change in their school behavior/accomplishments; meaning the teacher will contact specific parents and request an interview for specific children. If you are not contacted your teacher does not need to see you at this time. Parents who wish to request an interview should use the online booking site - see your parent council email for log in details or call the office as teaching staff do not use the same log in. Remember, your Kindergarten teachers will be holding a classroom Open House in March where you can come, see the class, your child's workbooks and ask questions in an informal situation if you do not have any specific questions or concerns regarding your child.
Valentine tip! If you are starting to work on Valentine cards with your child - because they can take several days to complete - having your child just sign "from __________" is an easy fix. If your child is able and willing to add the "To" name of their classmates go ahead! Reading their peers' names is great! As we already have a party on Monday, February 10 for 100's Day and I need to be out of the class that week to cover a portion of Kindergarten registration in the office, I believe having our Valentine day be more of a regular day with treats for snack perhaps but no activity based party or parent helpers necessary would be better for the children. They also have library that day which I am always hesitant to have the class miss out on. Sorry if this is an inconvenience!
