Thank you as always to our valued volunteers - Pizza Day, mailbags, Mystery Readers and Tara with the new calendar - you are awesome! Thank you to all of those who came to the Sharing Assembly and those who volunteered for the Science Center trip. We had more volunteers than we needed but ultimately only 7 of the volunteers have a Police check with the TDSB so those were the 7 chosen. As has been on the blog and Ms. Caddel's blog recently, the TDSB is now asking ANY volunteers in the schools ... Mystery Reader, Pizza Lunch, trip helpers, etc to have a valid Police Check. We have not, in the past been as consistent but going forward it will be necessary for volunteers in any capacity who will have access to the school/classroom/kids to have a completed check - you might want to act on this for next year by starting your paperwork now! We have finished our inquiry into the solar system and hope you enjoy reading your child's book! I found some great videos on youtube about the planets, solar system, actual footage of rocket/space shuttle launches, the Mars Rover in action and the Nasa Cassini which has been orbiting Saturn - the kids loved it! We enjoyed watching Chris Hadfield (and other astronauts) showing us how they eat, sleep, shower, exercise and more in space!! So cool and readily available to you also!
