Thank you as always to our valued volunteers! We enjoyed a wonderful Mystery Reader visit from big sister Norah this week and as always the kids loved Pizza Day and having parent helpers there, thank you! Thanks also to those able to come out and help us celebrate our Teamwork recipients Paige and Mateo at the Sharing Assembly. Our next assembly will be Friday, February 24.
The kids were very excited at the thought of getting their own library cards...the package sent on Friday is from the Brentwood librarian if you wish to do so.
Also sent on Friday was the trip information and permission form. Please follow the instructions to pay online and email Tara if you are available to volunteer. Send the signed, completed permission form BACK to school as soon as possible. As stated, we are able to take 2 volunteers. They will be chosen by lottery from the list of everyone available. As you can imagine, all parents would love to attend and all children would love to have their parent there, so a lottery is the only fair way to determine who will come. This is only the beginning of your child's (and yours as a volunteer) school trip opportunities!
And also sent on Friday ... was the ziploc baggie and instructions for your child's 100's Day collection. Collections must fit in the baggies. You can group your materials any way you wish - counting by 5's, 10's, 20's, 25's etc but the idea is the kids learn that making groups to count to higher numbers is easier than counting by ones. It also solidifies the understanding of what 100 is...10 groups of 10, 20 groups of 5, 4 groups of 25 etc. Collections should be in class by Mon. Feb. 6 so that we can look at a group of them each day.
