Week of Nov. 7 - 11

Thank you as always to our valued volunteers!  We also send a big thank you to Patricia (Kristina's mom) and Janine (Alexandra's mom) for thinking of us in the Halloween sales.  We have some fun new dress-up clothes that the kids have been really enjoying, many thanks!  Thanks also go to those who sent extra loot bags for the new student we were expecting, that was very nice!  We aren't sure now if that particular student will be returning to LKS but as we have the lowest number of students we are the class that new admits will be assigned to, so...we will welcome Nolan, an SK boy, and his family on Monday! The kids are excited and will do a great job making him feel welcome I'm sure!
Welcome to LKS Sterritt family!

Your child brought home a class picture on Friday.  Everyone gets a class photo whether you ordered individual photos or not.  Unfortunately, there is a typo in my name!  They will be able to reprint us a correct version, no need to return the other one.  If you ordered and paid for individual photos they were also sent home Friday.  We will send retake and sibling proofs/info as soon as we have it.

This week we will spend some time talking and learning about Remembrance Day and the concept of peace.  Each year, thankfully so, it becomes more difficult to relate the idea of such a great calamity as a war to the class.  If you have a family history, connection or stories to share with your child in an age appropriate way, please do so! It will build empathy as well as understanding.  A personal connection always has more power than relating to a book.  Our school Remembrance Day assembly will be Friday at 10:30.  There are always seats set out for the community to attend so feel free to come if you are available.

This week looks like:
Monday - Day 3 LIB/IT PM
Tuesday - Mailbags, Reading Buddies AM, Mystery Reader PM
Wednesday - Day 5 LIB/IT AM
Thursday - Music AM
Friday - Mailbags, Remembrance Day Assembly 10:30
Have a great week!
Ms.I.
