Week of June 27 - 30 Year End!

Thank you as always to our valued volunteers.  It seems I say this a lot, but we are so blessed to have all the wonderful people who can help us out in so many ways with their gift of time!  A great big THANK YOU! from myself, Ms. Santiago and all the kids for all you have done!

We enjoyed our last Sharing Assembly this week, it was great to see so many of our parents there!  Moving on to grades one through eight the assemblies take a different format and parents do not attend but the same character traits are taught, encouraged and celebrated!

Report cards will be sent home on Monday with ALL students K - 8.  Your child will have the big brown envelope, page 1 for teacher comments and page 2 for your comments.  We do not need the envelopes back OR the report - this is your copy, I have already filed one in the office.  If you wish to add your comments on page 2 and return it I add this to the office copy, otherwise you do not need to return any portion of it.  If your child is returning to LKS for SK they will remain in room 172 with me.  If your child is returning to LKS for grade one, their new classroom number and teacher are noted on the report.  For those of you moving on to new schools, your child's records will be requested by their office and sent over - the same file follows your child throughout the grades as long as they are students in Ontario!

Our Graduation ceremony for Senior Kindergartens is Tuesday morning, 10:00.  We will have the class set up for you to enter by the BACK door.  We ask that you do not come in the hallway as this is recess time for grades 1-8 and the halls will be busy!!  Our ceremony will conclude by normal lunch time 11:20-12:30 and the children will follow normal lunch routines.  Our year end party will be in the afternoon, sharing treats and having fun together.

Our last day, Wednesday, is pizza lunch in the park.  Please make arrangements for your child to be supervised by another parent or caregiver for the entire lunch hour if you are unable to join us.  If you  are unable to make arrangements or attend PLEASE LET ME KNOW so that I can give Ms. Joy an exact number - and names - of who she will be responsible for.  Lunch is at the regular time (11:20-12:30) and as usual the teachers are not on supervision duty and the classroom is closed until the bell.

We are working hard to wash and wrap everything in the class for safe-keeping as my room will be used by Sunnylea Preschool Camp beginning Monday! I enjoy coming in one day a week during the summer and working away on all the details for the new year so this will be a change! Everything of mine will be put away and they will have our space until the middle of August, giving caretaking and myself two weeks to get us ready for September start up!!  If you see any of our caretaking staff, they deserve a BIG thank you for all that they do all year long!

A few of our class family will not be back in September.  We are saying goodbye to Justine as she goes off to the Toronto French School next year! We are saying goodbye to Anirudh as he goes off to French Immersion and Jordyn whose family is relocating and beginning a whole new adventure!  We wish you all nothing but the best, know that we will think of you fondly and that we know you will succeed wherever you go!

This week looks like:
Monday - Report cards home at 3:05, all students.
Tuesday - Graduation Ceremony 10:00-11:00, year end party PM
Wednesday - Pizza in the Park, kids last day!
Thursday - PA Day, Staff meetings, Grade meetings, Moving and cleaning!
Friday - Canada Day! Happy summer!

Finally...thank you for sharing your children with us.  They are all unique and wonderful little people.  It is such a pleasure and a privilege to spend my days with them, guiding, teaching and sharing in their wonder at the world and their own abilities.  How far they have come!!  Congratulations to all!

Have a great week!
Ms. I.
