Week of June 16 - 20

Thank you as always to our volunteers and a reminder of the Volunteer Tea June 24 before school for all of you who have helped in any way! Our fantastic grade parents - Sara, Cynthia, Christine and Maria deserve a big thank you for their work to keep us organized all year.  So great ladies! If you see them over the next few weeks be sure to give your thanks, 3 of them will leave us as their children go off to grade one.   For those of you already thinking about next year's volunteer opportunities, Karen Miller would love to hear from you if you are interested in the grade parent position(s).  Going forward as an all day class there will be no AM and PM but most classes have two grade parents to share the jobs that come up over the year.  Feel free to email Karen if you have questions about the role or would like to volunteer for the job! karen.p.miller@rogers.com

This week will be our last Sharing Assembly of the year.  Certificates for the character trait of perseverance will be awarded to Madeline, Emily, Sophia and Saaya.  Well done!

Next week will be Senior Kindergarten graduation.  As the Ontario kindergarten curriculum is a two year program we do not graduate the JKs, they will be recognized for completing kindergarten at the end of SK.  All SK parents are invited to attend graduation ceremonies.  Ceremonies take place in our own classroom so please be mindful of the limited size and space we have available when planning to attend.

Ceremonies will begin at 10:15 for the AM class.  The children have computers until 10:00 which will give me some time to set up without kids in the room.  I will open the back outside door for your admittance at 10:15 to avoid everyone having to buzz in the main door.  We will begin our celebration with everyone seated and wrap up with snacks and a mingle time.

Ceremonies will begin at 2:15 for the PM class.  I will open the back outside door for your admittance at 2:15 so you do not need to buzz in the main door.  We will begin the celebration with everyone seated and wrap up with snacks and a mingle time.

The JK students come to school just as a regular day and are part of our audience for the ceremony.  JK parents do not need to attend.  Dismissal time is the regular time for JK students.

For next year...
All existing JK students (to be SK's in September) were sent a letter giving next year's start day and time, 8:45 for everyone now!  As SK students in September, they will come to Open House at 10-11 AM Tuesday, September 2 and begin full day kindergarten on Wednesday, September 3.  Wednesday is a Senior Kindergarten only day.
Next year's new JK's will come to Open House from 1-2 PM on Tuesday, September 2 and have staggered entry dates for Thursday, September 4 and Friday, September 5.  Check your confirmation letter (mailed from the office) and/or call the office if you are unsure.

All existing SK students going to grade one in September will receive teacher and class information for next year on their report card.  Reports will be given Thursday, September 26.  Reports cannot be given early but you may appoint - in writing please! - someone else to pick up your child's report for you if you will be absent on t he 26.  The office no longer mails reports home.

**A reminder Pizza forms for Lunch on the Lawn are due on Monday, June 16 and Terry Fox t-shirts can be viewed and/or ordered all this week.  Forms for both were sent with your child last week.
