Thanks as always to our volunteers! The Book Fair was enjoyed by all and another great example of our fantastic parent volunteers at LKS, staffing the Book Fair so that it runs smoothly and successfully. If you didn't have a chance to get there watch for another in the spring.
Our Student Council enjoyed the positive response to "Sports Day", thanks to those who participated. Stay tuned for more spirit days and/or watch for signs on our back door as we sometimes get very short notice!
Photo retakes and/or sibling photos will take place Thursday, October 24. You may wish to call the office with more specific questions or stop in if you have misplaced the information sheet. Monday, October 21 will be the final day to submit your retake information sheet (sent home Thurs. Oct. 10).
Senior Kindergarten progress reports will be sent home Monday, November 11. Interview times will be available for ALL parents junior and senior. I will make available times before the school day begins, at lunch, after the school day ends and some evening times. Interviews are ten minutes long and often back to back so being on time is crucial. Interviews are booked online and the teacher's schedules will be released to parents Monday, November 4. Spots are filled on a first come first served basis. Your grade parent will email more precise information for logging on and booking as we get closer so watch out for that information.
Colds and illness have begun! Please do not send a sick child to school. A congested, feverish, tired, coughing, uncomfortable child does not have a good day at school. Please be sure your child knows how to independently blow their nose, dispose of a dirty kleenex and wash/sanitize their hands afterwards. We teach the children NOT to cover their mouths with their hands when coughing but to use their arm to shield their mouth so the hands that touch everything we all share stay a little cleaner! Medicine cannot be sent with your child nor given by myself to your child. Be aware that even sending cough drops is not helpful at school as the children may share amongst themselves and/or eat far too many in a short period of time. Your help is very much appreciated in this matter.
Halloween is quickly approaching and for those of you new to LKS there will be a parade of costumes at 9:00 and 12:35. When putting together your child's costume please DO NOT send weapons to school. Even though they are toys, weapons do not encourage the right kind of behaviour or play that we encourage. Children are to come IN costume on the 31, ready for the parade but with clothes underneath as most do not want to keep the costume on once the parade is over. When sending treats to share with the class PLEASE MAKE THEM COMMERCIALLY PREPARED AND NUT FREE. Each child will bring home a loot bag of treats and may have severe allergies themselves or someone else in their house may be allergic.
Sharing Assembly will be Friday at 9:00 and 12:35. We look forward to congratulating Siena, Patrick and Noah for showing great responsibility in the class. See you there!
