Thanks as always to our volunteers! This is Book Fair week in the library. The students will visit the Book Fair on their regular library day and may purchase books. There will be no exchange of library books for either class this week. When sending your child with book fair money, please use a ziploc bag with their name on it so that it will be easy to keep track of! Unless you plan to take your child after school, their assigned library day will be the only opportunity to visit the book fair as Ms McGee has each period pre-scheduled for visits.
Please ensure your child finds and returns any outstanding library books or pays the fee set out by Ms McGee for lost books. There will be only one more borrowing opportunity for this year (NEXT week's library period) and then all books will be collected in order to do a complete library inventory. The children still visit the library and do activities with MsMcGee but no longer bring books home once this process begins.
A reminder that this month's Sharing Assembly has been moved as all of the kindergarten teachers will be attending a full day workshop on May 22. The assembly will be Tuesday, May 28 at 9:00 and 12:35. This month we celebrate integrity, a very complex character trait for children which we have talked about in the class as "doing the right thing even when no one is looking." Sometimes in young minds "the right thing" is easily confused with "the thing I want" making this a challenge! We recognize and celebrate the varying degrees of "learning" as well as the child who has "learned" in this case. Developmentally speaking, this is definitely a more mature thought process and one that children and adults work on throughout their lives so seeing a child begin their journey to consistently thinking with integrity as well as those who usually do is worth celebrating! This month's recipients for Integrity certificates will be Emily G. and Hayley in the AM and Lucas, Evan and Andreas in the PM. Congratulations!
