Week of April 15 - 19

Thanks as always to our volunteers!  New sets of books were put into use for both classes this week.  Please try to read and send back your child's mailbag with the reader inside for your next book change day - Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each regular 5 day school week - so as to keep the rotation going.  You can imagine that with 7 classes of kindergartens rotating these small readers it can be challenging to have enough books!

Thanks to those who participated in "Pink Day" for anti-bullying, there were some inventive ways of wearing pink and we appreciate the effort!  Thanks also to those of you who have already sent pennies in for the penny drive.  As part of our measurement unit we are weighing the bags and both AM and PM are almost 3 pounds at this point!  We are also going to lay  them one by one in a line and measuring how far we get...!  If you would like to help out just keep sending in those pennies, we have until Thursday.  On Thursday the Seeds of Hope club members will come around to collect the bags and we are reminded to wear BLACK that day in order to support their initiatives.

This month's Sharing Assembly will be on Thursday, April 25 to celebrate the character trait of cooperation.  We will recognize Kaitlyn and Jackson from the AM class and Margaux and Scott from the PM for their great efforts!

Our PM class welcomed a new family and new student Isabella on Friday.  We look forward to getting to know you!  Welcome to Lambton Kingsway and Canada!

Coming to us in May will be both an artist visit where both classes will have the opportunity to create a work in the style of Monet and a Scientist in the School visit on backyard bugs.  These are programs enjoyed by the children and at no cost to the school or yourselves as the Parent Council pays for them.  Be sure to thank a Council member if you know one!  I will send a thank you on behalf of the class but it is also nice for you as parents to know what your Council is doing for the kids.

Springfest basket contributions are trickling in, remember to keep up on the emails from our fantastic grade parents to ensure you have the correct items and are up on the correct time lines if you are participating in this venture with us.  Thanks as always to those who are able to help out; it seems we are asking for lots this month with the children's clothing drive also, so thank you!

Our week looks like this:
Monday - Mystery Readers 10:55 and 2:45
Tuesday - AM computers, PM Reading Buddies
Wednesday - PM Library
Thursday - AM Library
Friday - AM Reading Buddies, PM Computers
Cheers, Ms. I.
