Week of January 7 - 11

**Ammended**  Backwards Day has been added on Friday, January 11, 2013.  Participation is voluntary.

Welcome back to everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and happy new year.  It's so refreshing to see family and friends, set your own schedule and take advantage of the time home whether to cook those treats there just isn't time for after a work day, read a book, stay up late with the kids because it isn't a school day or head to the park with your husband and two very happy dogs for an afternoon hike in the snow!
To recap our last week; thank you as always to our volunteers.  We enjoyed lovely craft parties in both the AM and PM and the children went home with a loot bag full of treasure.  (I still have all of my children's Christmas crafts...they come out every year and still give me that warm feeling...even if my babies are 18 and 22!  Many thanks to our wonderful grade parents for organizing and sending materials, well done!  A thank you also for helping to make the Stonegate baskets such a success.  They were filled with thoughtful and generous gifts that will be much appreciated.  On a personal note, thank you for the lovely and generous teacher gifts.  They were very thoughtful!  To the AM class, your gift card purchased the absolute BEST WARMEST LOVELIEST dog walking boots EVER! I treated myself to a pair of SOREL -32 winter boots and have been stomping around Edwards Gardens for hours everyday very comfortably, the dogs are thrilled! Thank you again.

As we start back to school, remember that your child should have their eyes and ears tested regularly to ensure they see and hear as well as is possible.  Both hearing and vision loss can be subtle and have major impact on understanding, development and school performance.  Children can't verbalize what they see and hear, particularly if it is what they have always known as the norm so having a regular check is vital.

Remember that our "gym" in kindergarten is outdoor play time and with the snow that we now have the children need to be dressed properly to enjoy this time - this means boots, hats, mitts and snowpants for playtime each day- keeping everyone warm and dry means keeping healthy!  Shoes to be worn in the class are essential, no wet boots stomping around please!

This week looks like...
Monday - Mystery Readers 10:55, 2:45
Tuesday - AM computers, PM Reading Buddies
Wednesday - PM Library
Thursday - AM Library
**Friday - AM Reading Buddies, PM computers, Dress Backwards Day!!

Have a great week!
