The mailbag had...
April Scholastic orders were sent on Friday, due back to me on Monday please and thank you!
The TDSB census forms were sent in the Friday mailbag. Forms are due back by April 28. Please send them to me and NOT the office as each teacher was given an envelope to account for all returned forms and hand them in as a group.
Geometry continues...
Thanks to those who have already sent in a 3D solid for the Shape Museum, please help your child find and label one if they haven't yet. We will be sorting the objects, labelling the groups and creating our display space on Monday. We will keep the items all week and return them to you on Friday.
I search and always preview - there is some awful stuff out there - on youtube for shape and solid songs and videos but also most other topics that we cover in class. Always add "for kindergarten" to your topic when looking around and as I said, always preview. There is a wealth of information available to us and so many ways to bring ideas into focus for your child.
Something to watch for...
Our juniors are confident and more of them are able to express their ideas and thoughts in written form now. We use strategies like having common words available for copying, practicing the most common and useful words, as well as learning and practising each individual letter and its' corresponding sound ( the Jolly Phonics program - also available online!). Everyone is now participating in the daily job of writing to our leader so the book your child brings home on their leader day contains a page for everyone at school that day. The kids are so excited by this and they have done a fabulous job all week. This is in fact the goal of writing - being able to tell someone something, express your ideas and opinions, in written form. Read and enjoy, we have come far!
