Week of December 15 - 19

Thank you as always to our valued volunteers.  This week our book changers WILL NOT be sending new books home but will be collecting all books in.  The Borrow A Book program will resume the second week of January.

Our December Sharing Assembly recognized Ayden, Amelia and Sara for their kindness and caring in our class.  So well done, congratulations!  The January character trait will be teamwork and our next assembly will be January 28.

We continue to collect donations for our Stonegate Family (mom, dad and 6 mth old boy) this week. Thank you to those who have already sent items in.  Items do not need to be wrapped as we wrap the ENTIRE basket full of goodies and add ribbon before it is picked up.  Thank you!

Food donations can also be sent this week until Wednesday, peanut free products please.  Thank you!

As we prepare for the holiday break, some helpful advice from one parent to another and a teacher who has been around more than 20 years...the kindies love the predictability and structure of school days and can become unsettled by the lack of routine on a break two weeks long.  Marking on their calendars (or one you use in a central area) what is happening - such as company coming, trips to other houses, special functions etc will help reduce anxiety and behaviour problems caused when children don't know what's happening and have little control of their environment.  Simply knowing a rough outline of a schedule can provide some comfort to a young mind and make the transitions from one activity to the next easier.

This week:
Monday - Lib/IT
Tuesday - Reading Buddies
Wednesday - Holiday Craft Party AM, Mystery Reader PM
Thursday - Music, Lib/IT
Friday - Mystery Reader AM
Have a great week!
Ms.I.
