Thank you as always to our valued volunteers. If you had an opportunity to volunteer for or get out to Springfest on Saturday, well done! The hours that go into the preparation of this event often go unseen but I can tell you the parent committees in charge work tirelessly leading up to the actual day so that a good time is had by all. Springfest is one of the biggest fundraisers for LKS. We have enjoyed having both a scientist and an artist in the class this past month, paid for with Parent Council funds collected from a variety of just such fundraisers. Our "classroom fund" -again, monies collected from parents and distributed by your parent council, allowed us to purchase new resources for the class such as a tabletop sight word game, indoor hopscotch and more. Thank you, thank you!
We have several visits to the classroom planned over the next few weeks as well as dental screening taking place. Officer Rich, our community police officer, will visit with and answer questions from the afternoon kindies this week and the morning kindies next week. Firefighter Paul will be visiting with us on Friday to answer questions and let the children have a look at his equipment. The dental hygienists from public health will see our kindies briefly for an oral hygiene check. Only when there seems to be an issue with your child's teeth will you hear from the hygienists, otherwise keep up your daily cleaning routines and regular dentist visits!
Gently used books will be collected all this week to be donated to the Children's Book Bank. If you have doubles of any books or a selection that your child no longer has interest in please consider sending them in to be donated. Books will be picked up from our class daily Monday to Friday of this week. Thanks for helping!
