Here we are starting our first full week of Kindergarten!
It's very exciting to have everyone coming every day now, we'll be able to see the dynamics of the class and learn our routines. September is mostly about learning to follow the routines and doing our best every day. Having a class that works well together and is able to follow routines more and more independently as the year goes on gives us the freedom to do more and more as a group!
To keep you up to date on what's happening, I will do a blog entry each weekend for the coming week. School happenings that impact us will appear on our schedule as well.
Our September snack/special helper calendar begins Monday, thank you for taking note of your days! The "Special Helper" may bring an artifact to school for sharing. For September, since we are getting to know each other, perhaps it could be something that helps us get to know them - represents their family, a hobby, sport, place they enjoy etc without bringing toys. ONE item ON the corresponding special day would be great! The other students will be able to ask questions about the object and it will return home with your child at the end of the day.
In the Morning our Grade Parent will be Mrs. Beveridge (Max's mom), thank you for doing that! Your morning class list will be generated using the info sheet filled out this past week. Some have not returned all paperwork for the office and myself, please do so asap! (That goes for the A.M. and P.M. classes.)
An Afternoon Grade Parent has not been decided, please let myself or Karen Miller know if you are interested in taking on this role. Most of you are brand new to LKS, this role is very much like a class secretary - coordinating volunteers needed for assorted class activities, emailing snack schedules, party requirements etc It requires a few hours of your time possibly once a month.
Curriculum Night will be your opportunity to sign up for volunteer opportunities in the class. We hope to have lots of helpers to share roles over the year rather than needing you to commit to the whole year! Volunteers will be needed for Computer Lab, Mystery Readers and Book bags each week, as well as making/sending playdough, party days and special events over the year. Library helpers are not needed this year. Curriculum Night begins promptly at 5:30 in the gym, followed by half an hour in the class. At 6:30 all teachers will be in the gym for speeches and introductions.
