Holiday Wishes And Thank You!

Thank you as always to our valued volunteers.  Wednesday morning we had a wonderful crew of great volunteers to help with the crafts at our holiday party.  The kids had fun and have a few momentos to enjoy - they are so proud of their creations!  I always dated my children's treasures and then when you get to having 23 and 27 year olds they are so fun to pull out and remember! My boys look forward to showing their own children one day!  Many thanks to Riley's mom, Caesar's mom, Jessica's mom, Preston's mom, and Paige's mom for manning a station and helping the kids, as well, Kristina's mom for doing the shopping and organizing.

We have been learning about various customs and traditions around the winter holidays and realize that to everyone, everywhere, no matter their beliefs or what they call their special holidays - it is the spirit of family togetherness and love that prevails. A meal shared with those we love and a special holiday table is a common theme around the world so the kids created the candle centrepieces for you to enjoy.  The wreaths have your child's hands as the greenery (perhaps some of mine too if they needed a little help with the  cutting) and were decorated with care and love.  They chose the tinsel colour and put on every bit of glitter and shine to make them as lovely as they are.  Your glass jar sits in the centre and the tealight was included...I hope they all made it home safely!

The "gingerbread" houses (graham crackers!) were a really fun activity on Tuesday afternoon!  All of the groceries and assembling was worth the end result and the fun the kids had creating their edible masterpiece!  My youngest (Nick 23, and his lovely girlfriend Emma) offered to come and man a table so that Ms. Paldon and I could do this activity with the class...that much candy and the baggies of icing we made requires a whole different level of adult supervision...once again, a big thank you to Patricia for providing us with that icing at such a busy time for her, it wouldn't have worked otherwise!

Included in your child's "loot bag" on Friday were thank you cards but I would like to say again a big "Thank you" for your thoughtful and generous gifts and words.  The kids always love seeing what's in gift bags and both Ms. Paldon and I had many offers to do the unwrapping!  We are privileged to spend our days with your children and enjoy it wholeheartedly.  Your kindness is overwhelming.  Our Ms. Paldon will be away several more weeks into January as she and her youngest daughter are going to India to spend time with her parents whom she has not seen in four years.  I am so happy and excited for her that they can go and spend this time together, she will have lots of wonderful memories and stories to share!  During her leave, Anita Kobair or "Miss K" as the kids know her, will be in our class.  You too will recognize Miss K, she is our go-to supply ECE when we need and we love her bubbly, easy going style. Help me welcome her on January 8!

At this moment, making my grocery list for the weekend's hosting duties...my family comes Christmas Eve and we do our own 5 kids with partners on Christmas Day...January 8 seems miles away so I'm going to leave the school week happenings/schedule until the weekend before.  There will be no blog entry until January 7.

Much love to you and yours for a wonderful break and a Happy New Year!
Wishing you happiness and health always, Ms. I.
